Inspired by Blas' Monthly Challenges page, I decided to start one of my own.

A private page to start with, might share with the public if it proves to be beneficial.

Nov 2023

Idea:

  • Make a documentary! Flush out the idea some more…

Learning:

  • Driving - 2nd attempt on the test 15 Nov! -> postponed to 5 Dec

Creative Outlet:

  • Writing more. Thoughts, ideas, feelings, knowledge…

Exploring:

  • Create the Services page and iterate.

  • Explore what I can do with the leading-edge products and platforms, starting with GPT4.

    • Tested using it for formalising complaint letters -> works well!

    • Tested using it for improving personal blogs -> hit and miss. I don’t really like its style, so I need to write most of the content and only use GPT to find alternative words and rewrite certain sentences.

    • Tried “day dreaming” with ChatGPT about participating in Documentary making -> It gave me a lot of interesting ideas! I ended up going to the surf film festival and met a few directors and producers of documentaries, and the connections also led to me joining the Art of Documentary!

    • Tested using it to generate video scripts -> I fed it with my writing and asked for 3 styles. I liked what it generated on the first glance, but incidentally 1 saw some other peoples videos which clearly was using GPT generated scripts. It made it look very unoriginal and uninteresting. It tend to use the same words and lump “pretentious” words to make it look professional instead of writing actually interesting and original stories and points of views. I think I prefer writing my own original stories, but maybe using GPT for inspiration.

Habit:

  • Monday morning weekly planning for work

Oct 2023

Loads of travels! US, Bali, China…

Exploring:

  • Family Office opportunity -> George wanted someone with fund due diligence experience. It makes sense. While I felt excited about the doors this opens, I find myself less excited about the financial and fund research aspect and more excited about the philanthropic and private investment from a project perspective. The appeal comes from seeing more of the world and learning more about making high-impact decisions. I was also not so thrilled about losing the flexibility in my current lifestyle and going back to office-based jobs. So all in all it’s an interesting exploration but I was not too gutted that I didn’t get the job. It revealed / confirmed my true calling which is a balanced life with abundant adventures and wellness, and embracing the world through deep and meaningful interactions and projects. Jake’s book was an interesting revise and a confirmation that I know more about the financial world than I give myself credit for.

  • Driving (4 hours a week, aiming to get a license this year)

  • Write more (can be the challenge for Sep onwards)

  • Making more videos (both shorts and long-form)
